The great themes of humanity run through every great story.  Since God created humanity, loves humanity, and came to earth as the ultimate human, it makes sense that God enjoys the great movies that highlight these themes.  Join us for a unique message series beginning January 31st, as we choose one current movie each week and examine the themes that cause Jesus to give it “two thumbs up!”

This Sunday: Star Trek

Christmas in Action is a local organization that assists homeowners in our community who require help with repair work on their homes.  Most of the people are elderly, or physically disabled and cannot do the repair work themselves.

The Journey Church is sponsoring a home again this year, and will be gathering on April 24th to do the work.  Please mark this date on your calendar. You may go to our Facebook page and RSVP your intent to participate.  Last year, we had 55 volunteers.  Let’s exceed that this year!

There will also be a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Christmas In Action at the First Baptist Church in Davisburg on Sunday, March 7, 11:30am-3:00pm.   Let’s plan to go as a group after our Sunday gathering on the 7th.

The journey to financial peace!

Financial Peace University is a 13 session class - 12 of 13 classes must be attended in order to graduate. Each class consists of a video portion taught by Dave Ramsey and a discussion portion that helps apply the principles to our daily life. Plan on a 1 ½ - 2 hour commitment each week of class.   The cost of the class is $100 per family.

Class schedule: FPU will meet on Monday nights, beginning April 12 from 7:30 - 9:00 pm.  Visit our Facebook page and RSVP for the class under EVENTS, or contact Lauren Brasile at 248-605-5524.

Journey Baptism

In 2005, we started a campaign called, “Homeward Bound” and purchased this 11.32 acre parcel on the corner of I-75 and Rattalee Lake Road in Springfield Township (approx. 4 miles from where we currently meet).   This is a beautiful piece of prime property with 1200 feet of road frontage and a view from I-75, and will make a spectacular site for our future church campus.   (See more pictures of our property by choosing the tab “Our Land” at the top of the screen)

We purchased the property for $250,000, and a group of pioneers who launched The Journey banded together and made financial commitments above our normal financial commitments to the operating budget of the church.  In 3 short years, we paid off our land debt completely!!   Our next steps will be to continue putting money aside to go toward site development work and building plans.   We’re inviting everyone to give a little extra toward Homeward Bound.  Please pray about what God might have you give toward our Homeward Bound project.   All gifts are tax deductable.  If you write a check, make it out to The Journey Church, and write “Homeward Bound” on the memo line.  You may also use our safe & easy Online Giving option by going to our website, www.ijourneyonline.com and choosing the Online Giving option.  Once you sign in, you’ll see options on giving to our operating budget or Homeward Bound.
